Firearms, Shot Guns and Explosives Licensing

The Wiltshire Police Firearms, Shot Guns and Explosives Licensing Unit is based at Devizes and are responsible for managing all aspects of the licensing of firearms and explosives including the issue of certificates, gun clubs, firearms dealers and permits within the Wiltshire Police area.

We aim to continue to provide an excellent service in the management of Firearms and Explosive Licensing for residents and visitors to Wiltshire. We will aim to provide a service which is nationally consistent. This will be achieved by:

  • Aligning our Department with the Authorised Professional Practice (APP) document and the Home Office Guide on Firearms Licensing Law
  • Implementing nationally agreed guidance issued from the National Policing Lead.

On these pages, you can find an explanation of the application forms for firearms, shot guns and explosives certificates as well as the latest fees. We have also included some basic advice about firearm safety and security together with answers to our most frequently asked questions.
