Counter Terrorism Security Advisor Team

Wiltshire Police, together with Police Forces throughout the United Kingdom, have a dedicated Counter Terrorism Security Advisor (CTSA) team that focus on reducing the vulnerabilities within the Wiltshire community from the threat of terrorism and domestic extremism.

The CTSA team deliver key elements of the PROTECT strand within the National Counter Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST). They are trained, coordinated and tasked by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) who work in partnership with the Security Service to reduce the impact of terrorism in the United Kingdom by:

  • Protecting the UK's most vulnerable and valuable sites and assets
  • Enhancing the UK's resilience to terrorist attack
  • Delivering protective security advise across the crowded places sector


The CTSA team provide Counter Terrorism protective security advice and support to the following sectors within the Wiltshire communities:

  • Industry & Agriculture
  • Retail organisations (Shopping centres & outlets)
  • Leisure (stadiums, arenas, theatres, cinemas & centres)
  • Trade organisations
  • Tourist locations
  • The transport sector
  • NHS trusts & Hospitals
  • Pharmaceutical companies
  • Medical research & educational institutes
  • Utilities (Water, gas, electric, communications)
  • Financial institutions
  • Night time economy (bars, pubs, clubs & restaurants)
  • Vulnerable communities and individuals
